bike parade

We organized a little back to school bike parade for the kids in our neighborhood the week before school started.  The kids were allowed to decorate bikes, scooters, basically anything that moved and meet in front of a neighbor's house.
Halle was determined to decorate her bike and decided it would be an america bike.  She had the idea and I let her execute.  It was absolutely darling and she was pretty darn excited.
Lily of course wanted in on the action as well and needed her own america bike.
It was so fun to watch all the neighborhood kids trickle out to the starting line.
Our grand marshall was a wonderful man in our neighborhood who agreed to lead the kids on his motorcycle.  There was even a police escort handy.  It turned out to be quite the event.  After a little ride around the neighborhood we passed out cold treats and enjoyed each other.  It was such a simple, but memorable event and so easy to throw together.  I really hope we make this an annual event.

Halle looks so grown-up in these photos! I love her bike idea too! :)
