kauai: day one

We are back from our vacation to the beautiful island of Kauai. We saw much and did much. And we even got to bring Halle along for the whole week. It doesn't get much better then that. A big shout out and much love to Grandpa Nimer for planning and funding everything and also Grandma Nimer for watching Halle while we played. We had an incredible time.
On our first day we headed out to Poipu beach, on the south side of the island where we were staying, for Halle's first taste of the Pacific Ocean.
She was mostly excited that Grandpa had bought her a bucket and shovel the night before. She soon found out she wasn't very fond of the sand. Hence, the leg in the air with the least amount of body parts touching the sand. Reminded me of the old days when she was first introduced to grass. She eventually got used to it and loved to bury her little mermaid in it.
She did love the ocean once she got used to it and loved being held in it and catching waves.
For lunch we decided to check out a little hot dog stand a friend recommended we try called Puka Dogs. That little joint produces some heavenly gourmet hot dogs with unique Hawaiian relishes. I wanted to drink the mango relish on my hot dog. They did not disappoint.
The boys played golf that afternoon while the girls shopped.
We met up for dinner at Kauai Pasta, another hole in the wall treasure with the most amazing pesto and then called it a night.
